BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - Argentina and the United States reached the final of the second women's Pan-American Cup by defeating Uruguay and Canada 11-0 and 4-3, respectively, on Monday at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex here.

Argentina now will play the States on Wednesday at 7pm, while Uruguay face Canada for third place at 4.30pm.

A hat-trick by In�s Arrondo, two goals by Vanina Oneto and the rest netted by Luciana Aymar, Mar�a de la Paz Hern�ndez, Nata�l Doreski, Marin� Russo, Alejandra Gulla and Claudia Burkart gave the world champions an easy win.

Meanwhile, Amy Fronzoni, Kristen McCann and two from Tracey Fuchs scored for the US, while Robin Leslie, Kristen Taunton and Stephanie Jameson netted for the losers.

Argentina v. Uruguay

Argentina dominated the first half from start to finish, while Uruguay were unable to pass the middle line. However, the Uruguayans put up an organized and accurate performance, defending well.

Uruguay's keeper Rossana Paselle sparkled, saving difficult shots in style.

But Argentina's perseverance payed dividends as they opened the score, in the 11th minute, when outstanding Aymar capitalized on a corner rebound.

Oneto's entrance gave the Argentinel side more power in attack and the dangerous striker demonstrated that, increasing the gap, in the 26th minute, after skilful solo play.

Two minutes later, Hern�ndez put Argentina 3-0 ahead from a corner cross.

Time had expired when Arrondo netted the fourth from a short corner.

The defending champions also set the pace after half-time.

Arrondo increased the gap to 5-0 in the 36th minute, putting her team 6-0 ahead five minutes later from a powerful reverse stick shot.

Oneto scored the seventh in the 52nd minute. Six minutes later, Doreski made it 8-0 from a corner.

Russo increased the advantage to 9-0, from a corner rebound, in the 61st minute.

The 10th was scored by Gulla, who capitalized on a cross from Garc�a in the 67th minute.

Burkart sealed the 11-0 victory with a wonderful reverse shot goal, a miinute before the final whistle.

Canada v. United States

The US started better pushing Canada but the Canadians tightened their marks to capitalize on the counter-attack.

Then they won a short corner to score in the 10th minute via Robin Leslie, who connected a rebound from US keeper Amy Tran.

The US reacted to take control of the midfield, producing some good chances. Thus, April Fronzoni equalized in the 24th minute.

The US continued pushing their rivals to dominate throughout the field to net twice in four minutes by Kristen McCann, in the 31st minute, and Tracey Fuchs, in the last minute of the period, from a short corner.

Veteran Fuchs widened the gap from a corner shot, only three minutes after half-time. But Canada's reaction was amazing as they overwhelmed the States all over the field to net twice in four minutes.

Kristen Taunton capitalized on a right cross for 4-2 while Stephanie Jameson closed the gap to 4-3 from a powerful short corner.

Both teams alternated domination, with the two producing good goal chances, but both North American goalies sparkled.

Canada gave their best, while the US struggled to control play - under the despairing shouts of coach Beth Anders - to defend the result until the end.

Perhaps a tie would have been fair to allow spectators to see 15 more minutes of good hockey.
