CHILE TROUNCE URUGUAY IN OVERCARDED MATCH

In an overcarded match (one red, five yellow and two green), the men�s Chilean team defeated Uruguay 6-0 on Saturday in the third day of the 8th South American Games (ODESUR).

Chile attacked from the very start, pushing Uruguay towards their back row, but the Charr�as defended well helped by a superb performance from goalie Mariano Mallo.

However, Chile opened the score through a penalty stroke, in the 13th minute, by Ian Koppenberger.

Chile increased the gap, in the 19th minute, when Raimundo Valenzuela capitalized on a corner rebound.

The winners continued with their solid pressure to net the third, in the 27th minute, through Esteban Krainz.

Uruguay attacked after half-time, but their advances did not harm their rival defence as Chile regained the control of play to increase the lead 4-0 through Valenzuela.

Chile sealed the victory with other two goals from Alan Stein, in the 54th and 64th minutes, the last one from a penalty stroke.

EASY VICTORY FOR ARGENTINA

The men�s Argentine team gained an easy victory over Peru 9-0 in the third day of the 8th South American Games (ODESUR) at Ciudad de Buenos Aires on Saturday.

Argentina kept the pace from the very start to go to half-time leading 5-0 easily.

Marco Riccardi opened the score, in the ninth minute, while Lucas Argento put his team 2-0 ahead, in the 14th.

In spite of Argentina�s several attacks, the Peruvian defence answered well, specially their goalie Gianni Delucchi, who saved his goal several times in style.

However, the local team showed their superiority scoring another three goals by Lucas Rossi, in the 24th minute; Rodrigo Saliva and Gabriel Encinas contributed with two more, in the 32nd and 35th minutes.

Argentina continued with their dominance, but Peru reacted, with 10 minutes left, producing a fast counter-attack, which finished in a penalty corner that Argentine keeper Juan Espinosa saved.

The South American champions sealed the victory, converting four more goals through Tom�s Argento, in the 45th and 63rd minute; Rodrigo Saliva, in the 46th and Lucas Argento, in the 56th.

In spite of the result, the Argentine coach Sergio Vigil supported the South American Games: �Theses matches are very important for America, because we have to work for the growing of hockey in America. Thus, we will have internal competition that is what we need�.
