2008 South American Championship
Montevideo, Uruguay
March 29 to April 6

Brazil - Venezuela : 1 - 2
Argentina - Peru : 8 - 0
Chile - Uruguay : 3 - 1

Brazil - Venezuela : 1 - 2

Both teams fought hard to beat their rival, failing however to play well the first half. No scoring chances were created and the play was frequently interrupted by fouls.

The second half Venezuela did remarkably better and managed to beat Brazil, getting its first triumph and its first two scores in the tournament.

Brazil should improve the middle of the field, so it may do a better job for the forwards to take over.

Argentina - Peru : 8 - 0

In each match, Argentina takes a further step to its aim, the coveted gold medal. This time, they crushed the Peruvian team, basing its success on fancy moves and making the most of penalty-corners.

At all times Peru tried to play; however they were unable to stop the strong Argentine pressure, especially in the mid field. Despite that, Peru never gave up and made all attempts possible to strike throughout the 70 minutes.

Chile - Uruguay : 3 - 1

As the main candidate for the gold medal, together with Argentina, Chile played very well again. Despite its efforts, however, they could not shine as they did in previous matches, because they were facing a strong rival, the host team, Uruguay.

Chile did a good job opening the field, the strategy chosen to ensure the three points. Uruguay gave signs of being a compact and firm fighter, making victory difficult for Chile.
