Argentina - Mexico : 13 - 0

At five past twelve --Uruguay time, Argentina and Mexico inaugurated the 1st Pan American Youth Championship for U17 players, in the Carrasco Polo Club, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Argentinean team overwhelmed his pairs from Mexico 13 - 0.

The game began with a leading Argentinean team -the favorite, who maintained the supremacy until the end of the second half. The team from the Rio de la Plata (Argentina), opened the scorer thru Agustina Albertarrio, the best player of first half.

Argentina kept attacking Mexico who tried to make a good defense, but was overflowed by the number of variants displayed by Argentina in the attack.

The Aztec Goalkeeper, Xiomara Zeped was the best player of her team, although the bulky result playing against her. The first half finished three to zero in favor of Argentina, with a final shot from a penalty corner by player number 10 Cristina Correa. This was the fifth penalty corner for Argentina; this time with a successful stroke.

The second half become an Argentinean monologue, with a demonstration of class, leaving a rival with any strength to score. Argentina looked concentrated at all times, playing to secure their ticket to the Olympic Games.

Great field plays by great players from the Rio de la Plata team lead to score 10 goals in the second half. It was a solid team working at all lines, and it was the whole team �the player� and not an individual one

A great debut for Argentina, the favorite who showed their power at the game; Mexico will have to improve their performance to face their next game.


Canada - Paraguay : 12 - 0

The second match of the day between the teams of Canada and Paraguay. Again a team prevailed over the other with a big score. This time it was the Canadians who demonstrated their great power in the field and overrun 12 - 0 the Paraguayans.

Canada governed throughout the match demonstrating a great team work, at all lines. The first half finished with a broad score to its favor; seven - zero. The defense, mid field and the attack worked perfectly. They also showed great strength in corners, with a show of options at the time of scoring.

On the other hand, Paraguay was weak in front of a great rival, who monopolized the ball and pressed constantly. The Paraguayans were not able to cross the middle line of the field and thus did not manage to reach at the Canadian goal.

Paraguay will have to recompose quickly from this defeat to continue fighting in the tournament. On the other hand, Canada will have to keep up their strength to fight for the unique place in the Olympic Games.


USA - Bermuda : 11 - 0

Today�s third match was between United States and Bermuda. The North Americans sealed a victory scoring 11 -0.

The match began with a balanced game, but as time passed US team started taking the lead. It was then that with a good team work the Americans scored six goals in the first half. US team was also successful at the penalty corners; showing great plays when they had the chance to score.

Nothing changed in the second half, with US being the owner of the game in all the pitch. Bermuda tried hard to get rid of the Americans constant pressing, but this was only possible in a very few opportunities

US are now growing as one of the potential teams to fight for the Olympic Games. Bermuda will need to improve their performance to have a chance.


Chile - Uruguay : 0 - 3

Today�s last game confronted Uruguay, the host country, and Chile. The Carrasco Polo Club was dressed in �pale blue�, more than one thousand souls at the stands cheered the local team

It was an extremely balanced game, with both teams playing in the midfield, where they tried to make a creative match. Although the two teams reached their rival area, it was Uruguay who scored first thru (Camila Piazza), with a perfect run from the midfield. Nor Uruguay or Chile could capitalize the chances of the penalty corners and went to the break with the minimum difference.

The second half began favorable to Uruguay; it was in the first minutes that they had the chance to enlarge the score by a penalty shot by Mayte De Maria. But once again, the game became balanced, until an insistent team with the support of their fans from the stands got a new penalty shot netted by Camila Piazza.

Chile had a great reaction and was able to push the host country into their field, but could not succeed to score and after a good number of penalty corners that Chile could not capitalize the Uruguayans sealed the 3-0 and are still dreaming to get to The Olympic Games.
